Burdon Secretary Report

The Burdon Secretary's Report was delivered at the IAH (Irish Group) 2018 AGM that took place on Tuesday 20th November 2018. The invited guest speaker this year was Dr. Adrian Healy from the Water Research Institute, Cardiff University. The presentation was entitled 'Exploiting Groundwater Resources in Urban Africa: Understanding Choices and Consequences.'

Call for Sponsorship of IAH Student Bursary Scheme

Each year IAH (Irish Group) have a call for sponsorship to continue the tradition of providing some support to the Hydrogeologists of tomorrow, and to encourage their contribution to the development of groundwater understanding. We are contacting our membership and colleagues directly and asking that, if you feel it is appropriate, you would bring the request for support of the IAH (Irish Group) scheme for 2018 to the attention of your company on our behalf. Hydrogeology Photos

The IAH Irish Group committee are requesting any photographs with a hydrogeology theme for use on the photo gallery of the website, and in particular, one or two photographs which can be used for an exhibition stand which is being prepared/designed in time for the annual conference in April. The stand will also be used at other conferences to raise awareness of the IAH and hydrogeology. Please send them in to Damien Doherty at damien.doherty@dccae.gov.ie.

MSc in Applied Environmental Geology

University College Cork and the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Sciences have a few places left for the MSc in Applied Environmental Geology. It is a full-time multidisciplinary degree running for 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme. A 24 month part time option is also available.

KINDRA Project

The EU funded KINDRA project has officially launched the European Inventory for Groundwater Research (EIGR) to the public. This tool allows registered users to explore and share groundwater research findings, including scientific papers, technical reports, hydrogeological maps, book chapters, etc. Questions on the Irish contribution to date on KINDRA and the EIGR can be sent to info@igi.ie.
