The purpose of the bursary scheme, which is funded primarily by sponsorship from industry, is to support Irish hydrogeology by supporting education of hydrogeologists with a connection to Irish hydrogeology.  The amount available for distribution as bursaries is dependent on the level of sponsorship from industry, therefore a number or no bursaries may be awarded in any year. Recent bursary amounts have ranged from €500 to €1000.
