The IAH Irish Group is awarding annual bursaries to student research projects or courses, in order to foster Irish research and training on groundwater topics.  The award(s) made amount to €2000 per annum, either as a single award or multiple smaller awards, the decision of which rests with the committee.

If you are a third level student interested in groundwater issues and would like to apply, please send a proposal letter and your CV to the Publicity & Education Secretary, details of whom can be found on the committee page.

Activities to be funded include, but are not limited to:

  • A groundwater research project as part of a postgraduate course
  • A specific groundwater topic within a larger research degree
  • Participation in a groundwater course (e.g. a hydrogeology M.Sc. or a short training course)
  • Presentation of a paper or poster on a groundwater topic at a conference or workshop
Applicants must submit:
  • A proposal outlining the purpose for which funds are being sought. This should include a description of the research topic or course to be undertaken, a financial statement indicating the amount of funds requested and the use to which the funds would be put, and a statement of what other sources of funding have been obtained or applied for. (total length 2 pages)
  • A short curriculum vitae (length 1 page)
  • Names and contact details of two referees (including email addresses where possible)

The application can be submitted as an email attachment or in hard copy; in the latter case, four hard copies of the documentation must be supplied.

Successful applicants will be expected to submit a short written report on completion of their funded activity, and may also be asked to give a short talk to the IAH Irish Group.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 12th October 2007.
