IAH Pumping Test Course Registration Details

Registration for our Pumping Test course on 21st November 2019 is now open and accessible here. The schedule for the day is shown below with contributions from Bruce Misstear of the Department of Engineering in TCD, Henning Moe from CDM Smith, David Ball Hydrogeologist and Taly Hunter-Williams of the Geological Survey Ireland.

The course will be eligible for 7 hours Institute of Geologists of Ireland CPD, and costs €50 for IAH members and €120 for non-IAH Members.

It is recommended that anyone in the engineering or science field undertaking pumping tests or reporting on pumping tests consider attending.

A refresher about radial flow to wells and common assumptions and misconceptions in well pumping tests

Step drawdown tests, constant rate tests and recovery tests.

Common steady-state and non-steady state analysis methods. BM


Design, Construction and Operation of Water Supply Boreholes in Ireland.

Influence of well design on abstraction, drawdown and quality. DB

Yield-drawdown relationships in fractured aquifers.

Assessing sustainable yields from pumping tests & using operational data. BM


Summarising transmissivity & storage of Irish aquifers; the implications for a sustainable yield. THW
